Why should I service my Automatic Door?

When it comes to servicing your automatic door, think of it just like a car. It has a motor and moving parts which need to be maintained regularly.

The relevant British Standard advises that trained engineers should service automatic doors regularly to ensure that they are functioning at the correct level and all safety systems on the doors are operating correctly. Current regulations require employers to safeguard workers and visitors against injury by ensuring that automatic doors are fit for purpose.

Without certified maintenance property insurance may be invalid. Regulations for Automatic Doors: EN16005 All automatic doors must comply to the EN16005 regulations. This is a statutory directive to ensure the safety of users, employees and general public.

Regular Checks

There are checks on your automatic door which you can carry out to help keep them maintained. It’s rare for an automatic door to suddenly stop working or brake down. Unless there has been malicious damage or an accident.

The majority of the time, there are early warning signs that will arise that will indicate that your door needs repairing.

  • It is important to keep your doors clean and clear of obstructions and ensure they are opening and closing correctly.
  • Regularly check for signs of wear and tear, if you do see any abnormal signs, ensure they are inspected by a trained engineer before the problem becomes a more serious issue.
  • It is very important to have correct signage displayed on your door. It will reduce the risk of any accidents with employees and general public which could result in further damage to the doors.
  • We do not advise that you touch the electronics/automation of the door. A trained engineer will be best for any electrical/automatic issues. These quick and easy steps will help ensure the maximum equipment efficiency and longevity.
